Good news everyone!
We totally passed the TEFL test and we just got our TEFL certificates at the talent show. Yay! Whew! Now that that’s out of the way, here’s our schedule for the next few days:
-Today: We had our Chinese finals this morning. Spenser did great, I did just fine enough and now everything is done. Whew! The talent show went well and it was fun to say a proper goodbye to all of our students (some goodbyes were more heartfelt than others, but most of it was like, “See ya!”. Good kids, good kids. Anyway, tonight, PKU (Peking University) is hosting a banquet for us so we’ll eat, drink, and enjoy our last night in Beijing! Oh! And, hopefully, we’ll find out our Shenzhen school placements tonight at the banquet or sometime tomorrow. We both REALLY want to teach seniors (high school kids) so keep your fingers crossed we get the school we want!
-Tomorrow: We leave for the Forbidden City at 7:30 in the morning (ugh). We’ll trot around there for a few hours, see Mao (so weird that’s an actual thing we can do), stand in Tiananmen Square, and discuss the Gate of Heavenly Peace. We’ll come back to the hotel, change clothes, and then hop on the bus to go to the train station at 5:00pm. Finally, around 6:30, we’ll all get on the train and embark on our 24 hour train ride to Shenzhen!
In Shenzhen, we’ll be staying in a hotel for 3 days before we go to our schools and our contract signing ceremony is the night of the 23rd. We’re so excited to leave Beijing and finally have a few days to relax. Both of us have lost some weight already because we just walked around campus so much! It’s definitely time for some well deserved rest and relaxation.
Okay, time to go to our first “Beijing Banquet”. I’m excited for it and I’ll make sure to take lots of pictures.
Much love from abroad,
