IMG_1024Yesterday, as conditions worsened outside, the fun began inside! After we were all prepared for what was to come, we decided it would be fun to hang out, play a game or two of hearts, and have our own little typhoon party.

After a while, we could hear the wind pick up, so we went outside for a look.

Yup, it's windy.

Yup, it’s windy.

The fun continued, the hats got sillier, and Kane’s super nice girlfriend Ju Ting made us an AMAZING fish stew.

Overall, the night was actually quite fun and we all went to bed at a reasonable hour. Then storm intensified and the power went out. Luckily, it turned back on after about 20 minutes, but then the main distraction was just the noise. As anyone who has ever experienced a hurricane can testify, those things are loud! Windows shaking, constant “wooshing” noises, car alarms going off, etc. Thankfully, I’m always prepared and I fell into a deep sleep with the help of some melatonin and ear plugs.

I went outside this morning to survey the damage and it’s not that bad.

The carnage!

The carnage!

There are a few downed trees, a mess on our school’s track, and a lot of leaves, but that’s about it. We’re grateful that’s all there is in our immediate area, and we’re also grateful for our awesome mountain that provided us with some much appreciated wind protection.

Mess on the track.

Poor tree.

Poor tree.

Now there’s only one question left: will we still have school tomorrow? Hmmmm…

To be continued!

UPDATE: We do have class tomorrow, but only afternoon classes. Our school is still in the process of getting all of the students back on campus. More time to sleep in tomorrow! Woot!
